Loads more new features added

App update: Version 2.0.1 to 2.0.8

It’s been a wild ride since our release of Pockett 2.0 in February. Most notably, we’ve added a bunch of highly requested features since!

Here are our top favourites.

โ›”๏ธ Bulk exclusion of transactions from dashboard widgets: Previously, you could choose to exclude individual transactions one by one. Now, you can choose to exclude all transactions from a specific category, merchant, or tag. Some users have told us that it’s pretty nifty for excluding all “transfer” transactions that they didn’t want showing up in their income/expense widgets!

๐Ÿ•ต๏ธ Transactions search tool: Search through all your accounts and portfolio transactions at once.

๐Ÿงฎ New calculator feature: Perform calculations before inserting your income/expense amounts.

๐Ÿ’น Fixed currency exchange rates: A new option to input a fixed currency exchange rate instead of using the automatic daily rates.

The best part is, all of these new features are available to everyone (both free and plus plans)! We are committed to making the tracking experience great for everyone and will continue to roll out new features for all.

If you’re enjoying Pockett, do leave us a review in the App Store or Play Store โ€” every happy user/comment/review encourages to keep building and improving Pockett! ๐Ÿ™

App Update New version

Pockett 2.0 is out in the wild!

App update: Version 2.0.0

Yayyy Pockett 2.0 is finally released! ๐ŸŽ‰

This major update has been a long time in the making, and we’re super excited to share all the brand new features with you.

๐Ÿ“ˆ Brand new investment portfolio tracker and widgets (Pockett Plus only)

You can now track your stocks, crypto, ETFs, forex, and mutual funds from over 70+ exchanges worldwide!

This is by far the biggest feature of Pockett 2.0. Implementing investment tracking was a huge challenge both from a design and technical perspective. Two key design considerations we had were:

  1. the investment tracking part of Pockett has to meld in seamlessly with the rest of the app which was originally designed for accounts tracking; and
  2. it should function independently and should not affect the user experience for those who do not require investment tracking.

We’re pretty happy with the way it turned out, but do give it a try and let us know what you think!

With the addition of investment tracking, we’ve also added brand new dashboard widgets that are incredibly useful for getting intelligent insights into your portfolio performance.

๐Ÿ“„ Generate PDF reports (Pockett Plus only)

One of our most highly requested feature, you can now generate PDF reports of your accounts, income, and expenses!

๐Ÿ“ Local backup/restore data

Six months ago, when we released the data backup feature to Google Drive, we received feedback from many of you that you’d prefer to have the option to back up your data to the local storage of your device. We’re excited to say that you can now do so! This feature will now allow you to manage your data manually, and will function even when there is no internet connection.

Here’s how you can backup and restore your data manually to and from the local storage of your device:

  • In settings, under Data Backup, select “Local Storage” as the destination of your back up
  • Select a local folder on your device to back up to
  • Once your back up is complete, you should find a zip file in your local folder which contains your latest Pockett data

๐Ÿ“ฑHome screen shortcuts

Another highly requested feature, you can now add income/expense transactions quickly via long press on the Pockett app icon on the Home Screen of your device. This should make adding income and expense transactions a whole lot quicker than before!

Assign custom account type as “asset” or “liability”

You can now assign your custom account categories as an asset or liability. Previously, custom account types were classified as โ€œotherโ€ by default.

๐Ÿ”ง Other improvements

Future-dated transactions: You can now add transactions that are dated in the future. Do note that your dashboard will only show transactions up till today, but your future-dated transactions will be shown in the respective accounts in your MyPocket page.

More customisation options for donut and bar charts: You can now specify specific transactions types (e.g. by merchant, category, or tags) to be included in your donut and bar chart widgets.

Auto light/dark mode based on system settings

Passcode screen: We fixed a bug on the passcode screen which allowed a bypass when tapping on the back button of an android device

If you’re enjoying Pockett, we’d really appreciate it if youโ€™d consider leaving a review on the App Store or Play Store. Thank you! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Additional timeframe options for dashboard, receipt smart scan (Beta), and other improvements

App update: Version 1.3.0

๐Ÿ—“ Additional timeframe options for dashboard

A highly requested feature, you can now view your dashboard by calendar month (e.g. Jul 2021, Aug 2021), or even select a custom date range (e.g. 01 Jan 2021 to 31 Jul 2021). These options are in addition to the existing preset time ranges (1m, 3m, 6m, 1y, All).

๐Ÿงพ Receipt Smart Scan (Beta)

You can now try adding an expense to Pockett by scanning a receipt! The app will automatically read the Merchant, Date and Amount of the transaction so you don’t have to fill these in yourself. As this is a beta release, do let us know if you encounter any issues or bugs at support@pockett.app.

Each receipt scan comes at a cost to us as it requires image processing, optical character recognition, and AI processing on the back end. We have thus capped the number of scans at 15 per month per user in order to manage our operating costs.

If you’d like more receipt scans, you can invite friends to Pockett. For every friend who signs up with your referral code, you’ll both get an extra 5 receipt smart scans per month, up to a maximum of 150 scans! Every new user encourages us to keep building and improving Pockett, so thanks in advance for helping to spread the word. ๐Ÿ™

๐Ÿ”ง Other improvements

Data backup, exclude specific transactions from dashboard widget, and other improvements

App update: Version 1.2.0

โ˜๏ธ Data backup

You can now back up your Pockett data to Google Drive!

By default, Pockett encrypts all your data and stores them locally on your device. You can choose to back up your data to your Google Drive to keep your data history safe. This way, youโ€™ll be able to restore your data if you lose your current device or change to a new one.

To back up your data, go to settings and enable auto backup.

Tap on “Back Up Now”, and follow the prompts (if any) to back up your data. Your data will now be backed up automatically every day and when the app is in use.

๐Ÿšซ Exclude specific transactions from dashboard widget

If you wish to exclude specific transactions from your widget, you can do so by sliding left on the transaction in the widget, and selecting โ€œexcludeโ€.

This is particularly useful for when youโ€™re tracking multiple accounts in Pockett, and want to avoid transfers between those accounts from being tracked as an income or expense in your widgets.

Tip: You can bring your excluded transactions back at any time by clicking on the three dots at the top right of the widget and selecting โ€œview excluded transactionsโ€. Slide left on the transaction you want and select โ€œincludeโ€.

This feature has actually always been available but from questions and feedback received, we realised that it may not be easy to find. We’ve thus included a guide on how to exclude transactions from a dashboard widget in this latest version. More tips on how to get the most out of the Pockett app are available in the in-app User Guide under the FAQ page.

๐Ÿ”ง Other improvements

  • Sign up: We fixed a bug where users in the EU were unable to create an account.
  • Adding income/expense/transfer: The last account used will now be selected as the default account for the next transaction. We also added an option to create an account from the accounts drop down list.
  • Customize categories: We fixed a bug where larger system font sizes could affect the placement of the button to add new categories.
  • Savings goal: A new option is now available to add to a savings goal. We also fixed a bug in the calculation of the monthly goal amount; this fix will apply to new goals created.
  • MyPocket: We fixed a bug where transfer transactions could not be added if the original wallet account was hidden.

If you’re enjoying Pockett, we’d really appreciate it if you could leave a review in the App Store or Play Store. Itโ€™ll help tremendously with the App Store algorithm so more people can discover Pockett. Thanks so much! ๐Ÿ˜Š

More icons for custom categories, and other improvements

App update: Version 1.1.0

More icons for custom categories

This was one of the top voted suggestion on our ideas board. We’ve added a bunch more icons for custom categories based on your feedback.

If you have a customised category list, you may notice that your category icons look different after the update. This is due to the addition of new icons, but can be easily fixed by resetting your categories to set the icons back to default.

Other improvements

  • Customise categories: We fixed a bug where pressing and holding a category failed to bring up more options.
  • Dashboard: We changed the colours of the bar chart so that it’s easier to read.
  • Budget: Bar chart will now refresh immediately when a transaction is updated.
  • Email verification: We fixed a bug where multiple welcome emails are sent after verification due to multiple visits to the verification page.
  • MyPocket: We fixed a bug where transactions could not be added if the original wallet account was hidden. We also fixed a bug where rearrange accounts was not working.

If you’re enjoying Pockett, we’d really appreciate it if you could leave a review in the App Store. As an indie developer, it would mean the world to us. Thanks so much!

Transfer between accounts, exclude specific transactions from budget, and other improvements

App update: Version 1.0.3

๐Ÿ” Transfer between accounts

We’ve had a few requests for a dedicated function to make transfers between accounts in MyPocket โ€” we’re excited to say that you can now do so! This is real handy for transfers such as paying a credit card bill from a cash account. You can even set up recurring transfers if you like.

๐Ÿšซ Exclude specific transactions from budget

There is now an option to exclude specific transactions from your budget. This is especially useful for when you’re making transfers between accounts โ€” these transfers are not typically considered expenses and can unnecessarily inflate your expenses if tracked in your budget.

๐Ÿ‘†One-click sign up / log in

We’ve integrated sign up / log in with Apple, Google, and Facebook. With this, you’ll be able to skip past cumbersome registration and log in procedures and dive straight into your Pockett account!

Other improvements

  • Monthly budget: We changed the order that transactions are shown so that the most recent transactions are now shown first. This makes it consistent with the other parts of the app.
  • Dashboard: We fixed a bug where there were issues with selecting specific portions of the donut chart after scrolling down the transactions list.
  • Compatibility with larger system font sizes: We fine-tuned the text layouts in the app to improve clarity and readability for those who are using larger system font sizes.

Recurring transactions and other improvements

App update: Version 1.0.2

Recurring transactions

Yayyyy, you can now add recurring transactions to Pockett!

We were really ambitious with this feature and wanted to create a workflow that is super versatile and that would work for every possible scenario โ€”  think Uber ride expenses every alternate Tuesday and Friday, or freelance income on the 6th and 22nd of every month.

As a result, there were quite a few challenges that took longer than expected to resolve. All that aside, we are so excited to share the recurring transactions feature with you!

Check out the gif below to see how you can add a recurring transaction. In this example, the transaction is set to recur on the 6th and 22nd of every month.

Hot tip: You can find all your recurring transactions in the menu page and see when they’re scheduled for next.

Other improvements

  • Calendar: The calendar view is now collapsible to display more transactions.
  • Savings goal: The target date for savings goals is now extended to 35 years.
  • Dashboard: We fixed a bug where the line and spline chart widgets were displaying incorrect balances when different timelines were selected.
  • MyPocket: We fixed a bug where the account balance shows up incorrectly if the initial balance is changed.
  • Email verification: The Pockett app will now launch automatically if the email verification link is accessed from a mobile device that has the app installed.

New email hosting service, unlock with Face ID, and other improvements

App update: Version 1.0.1

New email hosting service

A couple of days after we launched, Outlook/Hotmail started blocking emails from our server for some unknown reason. This meant that many of those who signed up with an Outlook/Hotmail account between 1st to 3rd April were unable to get their verification emails.

Once we realized what was happening, we fixed this as quickly as we could by switching to another email hosting service. To those who were affected by the down time, weโ€™re terribly sorry. ๐Ÿ˜”

One good thing that came out of this though was that our emails no longer go to spam after the switch (or so we think?). Do let us know at support@pockett.app if you experience otherwise! ๐Ÿ™ƒ

Unlock with Face ID

In addition to using a passcode or Touch ID, iPhone users can now use Face ID to unlock the app for extra security.

Other improvements

  • Monthly budget: We fixed a bug that prevented the removal of budget amount allocated to specific categories.
  • Savings goal: We fixed a bug where the available savings were not showing correctly.
  • Dashboard: We fixed a bug where percentage changes were shown for the just numbers widget (e.g. income & expense widgets). This change will not apply to existing widgets. However, you can easily update this yourself by adding new income & expense default widgets or a new just numbers widget.
